CAPTURE THE CALL

Legacy Ranch and trainer Terry Knight for the impressive start to the career of CAPTURE THE CALL. A 3yr old colt by Elusive Quality out of Lake Charles, he ran 2nd in his first start, came back and broke his maiden by 3 in his second start, was very green in his next start the California Derby. Switched to the turf at Santa Anita, he just missed by a nose on March 24th then came back in the La Puente stakes on April 12 where he was blocked on the rail and finished 4th only beaten two lengths. His connections remains very upbeat that this handsome colt has yet to show his best. Look for more from this youngster in 2008. He was purchased by Gayle Van Leer for $100,000 at the OBS March 2yr old sale.

     

HYSTERICALADY

Jerry Hollendorfer and his partners Rancho San Miguel and George Todaro on their 4-yr-old filly HYSTERICALADY (2003 by Distorted Humor out of Sacramentada (Chi)) who continues to run in the top tier of graded stakes. Her heartbreaking 3rd (beaten a head and a nose) in the 2008 Humana Distaff (G1) in an attempt for a repeat of her 2007 Humana win and her very easy win in the March 9 Azeri (G3) stakes has boosted her bankroll to $1,310,978 with a lifetime record of 18-8-3-2. Her 2007 wins in the Humana Distaff (G1) by an impressive 4 lengths, The Molly Pitcher (G2) by 6 1/4 lengths and placings in the Vanity H. (G1) and the Milady Breeders’ Cup H. (G2) made for a stellar year. In 2006 she won the Hollywood Park Oaks (G2). Other stakes wins include the Juan Gonzalez Memorial Stake at Pleasanton as a 2-yr-old.  HYSTERICALADY was a $125,000 Keeneland September 03 purchase.

RL Stable and their trainer Dan Hendricks for the exploits of RUNAWAY DANCER (99 g Runaway Groom-Salsa Dancer). Since being purchased by Gayle Van Leer in June of 2003 for $50,000, he has won the 2007 running of the Sunset Handicap (G2), 2005 running of the $350,000 Jim Murray Handicap (G3), 2004 $139,250 Carleton F. Burke H. (G3), and the 2006 $88,605 Escondido Handicap as well as placing in the 2007 Del Mar Handicap (G2), 2006 Jim Murray H. (G3), 2006 Hollywood Turf Cup (G1), 2005 Sunset Breeders Cup Handicap (G2) and the 2004 San Juan Capistrano H. (G3) His lifetime record as of Jan 2008 stands at 42-8-5-6 for earnings of $851,640. Mark Dedomenico, Dan Jelladian and George Todaro and their trainer Jerry Hollendorfer on BWANA BULL's career to date. As a 3yr old this son of Holy Bull out of Shahalo, basically took the same path to the Kentucky Derby as CAUSE TO BELIEVE below, winning the 07 El Camino Real Derby (G3) and the 07 California Derby amassing a record of 4 wins, 4 seconds and one 3rd from 16 starts and earnings of $526,382.  BWANA BULL was a $140,000 Keeneland September purchase.

Peter Redekop B C Ltd and Peter Abruzzo owners of CAUSE TO BELIEVE, a 2003 colt by Maria's Mon out of Imaginary Cat, and his trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. Although unplaced, this colt took his owners for a thrill of a lifetime by starting in the 2006 Kentucky Derby. His impressive wins in the 06 California Derby 06 El Camino Real Derby (G3) were what lead to the decision to run in the KY Derby. He also won the Mill Valley Stakes at Golden Gate, the Comcast Bay Meadows Juvenile and the Cavonnier Juvenile S and finished 2nd in the San Miguel Stake, and 3rd in the Illinois Derby (G2). CAUSE TO BELIEVE has banked $421,543 and racked up a record of 17-6-4-2. CAUSE TO BELIEVE was a $30,000 purchase at the March 2005 OBS 2-yr-old sale.

     

HUSS THE KING (as a weanling)

  Long time client Sergio Levenson on his sale of Huss The King (2005 ch colt by Hussonet-Sky Away) for $120,000 at the 2007 Barretts March Sale. Selling as hip#159 at Barretts, Huss the King, was purchased for $20,000 as a weanling at the 2005 Keeneland November Sale. Best of luck to his new owner Arnold Zetcher, LLC! 
     
     

ROUND TRIP FLIGHT (at purchase)

  Dan Jelladian, Erick Amlie, George Todaro and their trainer Jerry Hollendorfer on their win in the Bay Meadows Breeders Cup Oaks on April 14, 2007 with ROUND TRIP FLIGHT. This filly by Monarchos out of Double Flight has also placed in the Golden Poppy Stakes, the Luther Burbank H, the Autumn Leaves, and the Miss America Handicap. Purchased for $47,000 at the OBS June 06 2-yr-old sale, ROUND TRIP FLIGHT now has a lifetime record of 16-3-2-4 and earnings of $151,430 through April of 2008.
     

E Z WARRIOR

  Owners Zayat Stables for their speedy E Z WARRIOR. After going undefeated in his first three starts including the 2006 Hollywood Juvenile Championship S. (G3) and the 2007 San Miguel stakes, he has also placed in the 2007 King's Bishop (G1) at Saratoga. To April 2008 he has a record of 9-3-1-1 and $215,990 in earnings. The dam of E Z WARRIOR, the stakes placed Carson Jen, was purchased by Gayle Van Leer and successfully raced by her client RL Stables who later sold her to EZ WARRIOR's breeders, Gulf Coast Farms LLC, as a broodmare prospect. Congratulations to all the connections of E Z WARRIOR.
     

LEAVE ME ALONE

S M Mitchell Ranch LLC's and their trainer Eric Kruljac whose LEAVE ME ALONE was an impressive winner of the 2005 Test Stake (G1) at Saratoga.  on January 29, 2006. LEAVE ME ALONE also won the Azalea Breeders Cup S (G3) at Calder, the $200,000 Melair S. at Hollywood Park, was 2nd in the Gazelle S. (G1) at Belmont Park and the La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita (G1) and 3rd in the Santa Monica H. (G1). Her career bankroll stands at $644,329 with 5 wins, 4 times 2nd and once third. LEAVE ME ALONE (Bold Badgett-Fabulous Ballet) was sold by Gayle Van Leer at the 2003 Del Mar Yearling sale for $35,000 (see yearling photo)

DA STOOPS Congratulations to the connections of DA STOOPS stakes winner of the Cal Cup Spring, the Cal National Snow Chief stakes, $250,000 Sunshine Millions Dash Stakes and the California Breeders Championship. He also placed 2nd in the Dwyer Stakes (G2) at Belmont Park, 3rd in the Hollywood Preview (G3), and the San Pedro Stakes, the El Cajon S. and the Real Good Deal Stake. His live time record is 16-5-5-4 with earnings of $640,906. DA STOOPS was a $90,000 RNA at the 04 Del Mar Yearling Sale but was sold privately the next day. DA STOOPS was raced by Watson and Weitman Performances LLC and trainer Bob Baffert. He retired to stud in 2007.

     

BEEZER

Chris and Victoria Linden on their first stakes winner BEEZER (2001 filly by Lucayan Prince out of Roberta Ullmann). BEEZER won the $50,000 2005 Vacaville Handicap and followed that up on with a good 2nd in the 2005 Monterey H.  BEEZER's lifetime record is 20-4-4-6 with earnings of $142,720. She will be bred to Holy Bull in 2007. BEEZER was purchased by Gayle Van Leer for $22,000 at the 02 Barretts October yearling sale.

     

LAGUNA POINTE

Jerry Hollendorfer and his partner George Todaro on their filly LAGUNA POINTE (Distorted Humor-Raise A Kiss), a $32,000 purchase at the 2004 June OBS 2-yr-old sale (see sale photo). She placed in the A2005 Bay Meadows Oaks and a lifetime record of 7-2-1-1 for earnings of $53,300.

Jerry Hollendorfer and his partner Marta Racing Ventures. Their mare LACIE GIRL sold at the 2004 Keeneland Nov sale for $240,000 carrying her first foal by Forestry. On the race track LACIE GIRL made 16 starts, winning 8 including 5 stakes, placing 6 other times including a G3 stake for lifetime earnings of $314,390. LACIE GIRL was purchased by Gayle Van Leer as a yearling for $55,000 at the 2000 Keeneland January sale.

     

DYNAMIC FUN
 

The Fun Loving Syndicate of Hong Kong and their trainer John Size. Acting as the US consignor for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Gayle Van Leer and her partner sold DYNAMIC FUN for HK$2,000,000 (US$256,400) at the 2001 Hong Kong International Sale. To 5/19/05 DYNAMIC FUN has earned his connections HK$5,595,400 (US$719,425) by winning 7 races and placing 6 times from 35 starts. ARSEN

RL Stable and their trainers Leonard Shoemaker and Dan Hendricks. Racing in the colors of RL Stable ARSEN won four races, placed 7 times, including two stakes, in 14 starts for earnings of $167,160. Claimed for $80,000 by Michael Gill on Dec. 3, 2003, ARSEN continues to earn money for his new connections with earnings to 12/4/04 of $242,840. ARSEN was purchased by Gayle Van Leer for $55,000 at the 2001 OBS March sale.

     

HOOVERGETTHEKEYS

The connections of HOOVERGETTHEKEYS. Along with his wins in the  El Camino Real Derby (G3) and the  Golden Gate Derby (G3) "Hoover" also took the Alameda Handicap and placed in three other stakes. "HOOVER's" earnings through December of, 2004 are $405,990. HOOVERGETTHEKEYS was purchased by Gayle Van Leer for $45,000 as a yearling at the 1999 Barretts October sale. HOOVER is now enjoying a happy retirement as a riding horse of one of his owners.
